San Carlos is a relatively new town, officially becoming a 'commissariat' of the seaport city of Guaymas in September 1963. It is located seven miles southwest of Guaymas, which is only 6 hours south of the U.S. border, and is home to several thousand American, Canadian and European retirees and small business owners.

Guaymas International Airport is 15 minutes outside of San Carlos. Both America West and AeroMexico have flights daily in and out of this airport. To check flight availability and pricing, visit www.americawest.com or www.aeromexico.com.

By Car

San Carlos is only a 4-hour drive from Nogales, AZ on a four-lane divided highway (Highway 15). For detailed driving information, including Mexican car insurance, crossing the Mexican border, and what to expect along the way, visit www.bajabound.com.

Boat DockBy Sea

There are 2 marinas in San Carlos- Marina San Carlos and Marina Real. The Marina San Carlos is situated in one of the most beautiful natural harbors in Mexico. The rugged mountains and cliffs that surround it are peppered with tall cacti and provide a safe haven for the yachts and other boats that have come from all over the world. Slips and moorings are available for rent, as well as an extensive dry dock area, all with reasonable rates. For more information on cruising in the Sea of Cortez, visit http://www.cruisecortez.com.
